Cabarrus County Clerk of Superior Court (Republican Primary)

The Election Hub has partnered with The Chamber, Leading Business in Cabarrus to bring voters information about Cabarrus County candidates.

The Cabarrus County Clerk of Superior Court is a judicial officer in North Carolina who manages court administration and also certain judicial decision-making duties. The Clerk's office is the primary record-keeper for the county's court system. The office keeps records for civil, criminal and probate cases, and ensures public access to case information.

The Clerk of Superior Court is elected to a four year term in a partisan race. There are three candidates competing in the Republican primary on March 3, 2026. Candidates must be at least 21 years old, registered to vote in the county, and living in the county. Candidates are not required to be lawyers.  There are no Democrats running for the role so the winner of this race will win the election.  Both the Charlotte Observer and the Cabarrus Compass reported that a superior court judge found probably cause in a petition to remove the current clerk from office.  The clerk has responded that it is a politically motivated charge. That hearing is set for February 27, 2026, amid early voting.
