Catawba County Board of Commissioners
The Election Hub has partnered with The Chamber of Catawba County to bring local election information to Catawba County voters.
Among the Board of Commissioners many duties, the top ones are determining the county’s strategic vision, adopting the county budget, establishing the county’s property tax rate and hiring the county manager. Commissioners are elected on an at-large basis to staggered four-year terms in even-numbered years. The complete list of county commissioner duties is on the Catawba County website.
The Board of Commissioners voted to approve the merger of the county’s three school districts. Two of the three board members who voted for the merger chose not to run for reelection. Cole Setzer is the sole incumbent running this election cycle. The last time a Democrat was on the board was in the early 1980s.
