Mecklenburg County Board of Commissioners District 3

According to the county website, “The Board's major responsibilities include adopting the annual County budget, setting the County property tax rate, and assessing and establishing priorities on the many community needs, especially those related to health, education, welfare, mental health and the environment.” This commissioner's term is two years.

There are nine seats on the board of commissioners: three elected at-large (countywide) and six elected by districts. All nine commissioners are Democrats, though there are sometimes disagreements.

Incumbent Democrat George Dunlap is uncontested in the general election and has served on the commission since 2008, when he was first appointed.
