Mecklenburg County Sheriff

The duties of the county sheriff include overseeing the county jail, providing security for the county courthouse, serving civil and criminal papers, receiving and booking arrestees, and issuing gun purchase and concealed weapon permits. This role is a four-year term.

Incumbent Sheriff Garry McFadden won a competitive primary against three other candidates and is unopposed in the general election. He is seeking his third term.
