N.C. District Court District 26 Seat 20

Judicial candidate research was completed with help from the Wake Forest School of Law Pro Bono Project.

District courts hear civil cases that involve divorce, child custody, child support and cases involving less than $25,000. They also hear criminal cases involving misdemeanors and infractions. There are 21 district court judges in Mecklenburg County, each serving four-year terms. All are Democrats. Nine are up for election in 2026, and all are unopposed.

Judge Karen McCallum is seeking her third term for this seat. This is the second time she is running unopposed.
