N.C. Superior Court 26H Seat 1

Judicial candidate research was completed with help from the Wake Forest School of Law Pro Bono Project.

Superior courts hear civil cases involving more than $25,000 and all felony cases.  Superior courts also hear misdemeanor and infraction appeals from the district court.  There are eight superior court judges in Mecklenburg County, each serving eight- year terms. Three of the seats are up for election in 2026, and all are unopposed. Voters only vote on one superior court district based on where they are registered. District 26H is in the eastern part of the county.

District Court Judge Elizabeth Trosch is running for the seat previously held by her brother-in-law, Superior Court Judge Louis Trosch, Jr., who was the county’s longest-serving judge and is returning to private practice.
