My name is Adam Olivieri, I am a 22 year old flight instructor and resident of Gastonia, NC. When not at work, I enjoy hiking and kayaking, and I have cleaned up over 150 pieces of trash from our lakes, rivers, and hills.
What inspired you to run for city/town council, and what specific qualities or experiences make you well-suited for this role?
I was inspired to run for City Council for one simple reason: I sincerely believe that my generation needs to step up and begin advocating for serious change if we want to have a chance at the same quality of life that our parents and grandparents enjoyed. I am no stranger to hard work, and I subscribe wholeheartedly to the belief that a person with a strong work ethic and the will to see a specific goal accomplished can make a significant difference.
What are your top priorities for your city/town (specifically pertaining to the business community), and how do you plan to address them if elected?
My top priority for Gastonia is as follows: I intend to bring home ownership back into reach for working class Gastonians. While this goal does not directly involve the furtherance of local businesses, it would indirectly result in an explosion of opportunities for local merchants as their customers would find themselves with greater amounts of disposable income, thereby increasing cash flow back into the community.

My stance on economic development is simple. I believe that the ONLY way to accurately measure the health of a community is to examine the per capita wealth of its citizens. Economic expansion within Gaston County, for example, is utterly meaningless if the fruits of that development are enjoyed by shareholders or executives in New York.
