Description:
Shanley is seeking her second term. She was initially appointed district attorney in 2022 by then-Gov. Roy Cooper just prior to that year’s election. She was Chief Assistant District Attorney at the time. She was a longtime prosecutor in the Special Victims Unit, working on cases involving sexual assaults on women and children. In a previous interview from the 2022 election, she said she wanted to "work on the violent offenders" and ensure that Cabarrus County remains a safe place for residents and businesses.

Shanley has worked in the district attorney's office for over 25 years and is married to the Cabarrus County Chief Information Officer, Todd Shanley. She received her bachelor's degree from N.C. State University and a JD from Campbell University.
