Description:
Douglass (who goes by “Gene”) says he is running because there is a “liberal feminist representing all of us!” He wants lower taxes, smaller government and local control of education (“end DEI and Woke nonsense”). In a recent Ballotpedia survey, he said he wants to “End Abortion for birth control purposes” and that “The ‘trans’ movement is just a modern way to sterilize/castrate confused kids.”

Douglass was born and raised in the Philadelphia area. He is a retired chemistry professor who taught at UNC Pembroke. Both he and his wife have run for federal office in other states (i.e. Hawaii). Douglass describes himself as a Christian and is a father and grandfather. He has a bachelor’s from The King’s College (N.Y.), a master’s from the University of Connecticut and a Ph.D. in Fiber/Polymer Science Chemistry from N.C. State University.
