Kannapolis City Schools Board of Education Area 1
Kannapolis has its own board of education, separate from the Cabarrus County Board of Education. It is one of “only a few city school systems in North Carolina” and because of its location, the board's jurisdiction stretches across Cabarrus and Rowan Counties. The election for school board is nonpartisan so a candidate’s party will not be listed on the ballot. Only registered voters who live in Kannapolis can cast ballots for this role. There are approximately 5,300 students in the city’s eleven schools.
The five members of the board serve staggered four-year terms. Two seats are up for election. Both of the candidates below are incumbents and voters can vote for up to two individuals. Voters wll also have space on their ballots for two write-in candidates.
