District Attorney District 19

The Election Hub has partnered with The Chamber of Catawba County to bring local election information to  Catawba County voters.

The district attorney is the state’s chief prosecutor in a judicial district. The district attorney’s office decides whether to prosecute criminal charges, prosecutes criminal cases, negotiates plea deals, presents cases to grand juries, works with law enforcement and crime victims and argues for appropriate penalties. The district attorney manages assistant district attorneys and office staff.

District attorneys must be licensed to practice law and live in the district they represent. They are elected to four-year terms.

D. Scott Reilly won his primary in March with 78% of the vote.  He is unopposed in the general election. While Reilly has served as district attorney for Catawba, Caldwell and Burke counties in the past, he will serve only Catawba County starting in 2027.
