N.C. District Court Judge District 26 Seat 18 (Democratic Primary)

District courts hear civil cases that involve divorce, child custody, child support  and cases involving less than $25,000. They also hear criminal cases that are misdemeanor and infraction cases.  There are 21 district court judges in Mecklenburg County, each serving four year terms.  All are Democrats. Nine are up for election in 2026 and this is the only contested race.

The winner of the Democratic primary will face no opposition in November’s general election.  The Election Hub partnered with Path to Permancy, a nonprofit focused on foster care placement, to field questions to the district court candidates (responses are available in the "read more" section of each candidate profile).
