N.C. Court of Appeals Seat 1 (Republican Primary)
The North Carolina Court of Appeals is the state's intermediate appellate court; district and superior courts are the lowest level of courts and the North Carolina Supreme Court is the highest level. Currently, 15 judges hear cases in panels of three. The majority of cases appealed from the Superior and District courts in civil and criminal cases are heard by the Court of Appeals. Judges of the Court of Appeals are elected in statewide races and serve eight-year terms.
The winner of this primary faces incumbent Democrat John Arrowood in the general election. Arrowood has been in the role since 2017. Republicans hold 12 of the 15 seats on the N.C. Court of Appeals.
