The Gaston Business Association Questionnaire
Please provide a short introduction (50 words or less) highlighting your background and achievements.
I am a retiree residing in the Carolina Riverside community. I previously served as a selectman and school committee member in North Attleborough, Massachusetts. I am currently active in the local community as a Meals on Wheels driver and a girls high school volleyball referee.
What inspired you to run for city/town council, and what specific qualities or experiences make you well-suited for this role?
I have always loved serving my local community in elected/appointed government service. I have a big heart for it. I want to ensure everyone prospers and lives healthy lives in the community in which they reside in. My prior government experience as well as my financial background, as a retired tax supervisor for the Massachusetts Department of Revenue with a career spanning 39 years, will hopefully bring some expertise to sunny Belmont.
What are your top priorities for your city/town (specifically pertaining to the business community), and how do you plan to address them if elected?
I would like to see a capital improvement gameplan followed through on in regards to proper wastewater treatment capacity currently for the city, lack thereof which is a rationale behind the current development moratorium.
I would like to see a road/sidewalk maintenance program address any business needs, ie the business center.
I would like to see the Belmont Trolley project through, continuing the city’s commitment to that project.
Please select one of the following local issues, and provide a brief description of your stance on the topic: Economic Development, Public Safety, Transportation & Infrastructure, or Education.
Public safety is an integral and connected part of any community need. I will always be committed to proper police, fire, and staffing levels for the city with fiscal responsibility in mind. I will ensure that our city does its fair part in contributing towards safety not just to the city but to the township and county, as mutual aid is a component as well to proper response time.
