The Gaston Business Association Questionnaire

Please provide a short introduction (50 words or less) highlighting your background and achievements.

I am a small business owner in Belmont with strong involvement in the community. I have been on various city committees and have been a local activist for progress in Belmont. I also bring decades of management from various industries.

What inspired you to run for city/town council, and what specific qualities or experiences make you well-suited for this role?

I am running for the position of Belmont Mayor so I can bring equal representation and government transparency to all residents. I also want to hold the city council accountable for decisions and make sure full effort is being made on their part to satisfy the needs of the community. Having been a strong voice in my community already, I can ensure residents will stay in the know about what is going on in their city.

What are your top priorities for your city/town (specifically pertaining to the business community), and how do you plan to address them if elected?

My top priorities are government transparency and accountability, equal representation and proactive smart growth. These will be addressed by providing guidance to the city council and staff and making sure all residents’ concerns are being heard.

Please select one of the following local issues, and provide a brief description of your stance on the topic: Economic Development, Public Safety, Transportation & Infrastructure, or Education.

Public safety is a strong initiative of mine. I want to make sure non-vehicular transportation is available and accessible in all parts of the city. We need more focus on sidewalks, crosswalks, street lighting and bike lanes. We need to ensure our police force is fully staffed and have the resources they need to keep citizens safe.
