City of Belmont Mayor

The Election Hub has partnered with the Gaston Business Association to bring voters information about Gaston County candidates.

Belmont has seen significant turnover in its mayor in the last 24 months. Mayor Richard Turner passed away in 2024. Mayor Pro Tem Jim Hefferan took on the responsibility of running the meetings, but he is not running for mayor. Both of the candidates in this race would be newcomers to city government. The elections are nonpartisan, which means that party affiliations are not listed on the ballot.
