Town of Matthews Board of Commissioners
Matthews has six town commissioners, and they each serve a two-year term. According to its website, “The mission of the board is to represent the public interest, promote quick, courteous response to residents' problems, provide leadership and direction to the Town's future and ensure the present and future fiscal integrity of the municipal government.”
Matthews has a population of nearly 30,000 and an average household income of $105,000. Thirty percent of registered voters in Matthews are Republican, 27% are Democrat and 41% are unaffiliated.
