Description:

Bowman favors universal healthcare, higher teacher pay, the Green New Deal, affordable housing and political reform including term limits. On his campaign website, he asserts that “every American has the right to first‑rate and affordable healthcare” and supports Medicare for All as a way to end medical debt and ensure comprehensive coverage. He opposes the expansion of private school vouchers. Bowman launched his campaign emphasizing universal healthcare, climate protection, affordable housing and raising the state minimum wage as core priorities for District 106. His campaign has been endorsed by the N.C. Democratic Party Progressive Caucus.

Bowman grew up in rural Orangeburg, South Carolina. He is one of seven siblings. His family relocated to Charlotte in 2012. Bowman became active in civic engagement when organizing with Rally NC on the UNC Charlotte campus and serving on the State Executive Committee of the North Carolina Democratic Party. He also serves as a Military Police officer in the North Carolina Army National Guard. He attended West Charlotte High School and is pursuing a Bachelor's at Southern New Hampshire University.
