U.S. House of Representatives (NC-10)
U.S. House District 10 is located in western North Carolina and includes all or portions of Alexander, Burke, Caldwell Catawba, Cleveland, Gaston, Iredell, Lincoln and Yadkin counties. The district contains a mix of small cities, suburbs and rural communities.
Members of the U.S. House of Representatives serve two-year terms. They must be at least 25 years old, a citizen of the U.S. for seven years and live in the state they represent. They cast votes on bills, serve on committees, draft laws and focus on policy issues that are of interest to themselves or their constituents. High-level tasks of the U.S. Congress including funding government programs and oversight of the executive branch.
The race features incumbent Republican Pat Harrigan, Democrat Ashley Bell and Libertarian Steven Feldman. District 10 is considered a Republican-leaning district. In 2024, Donald Trump won 58% of the vote in this district while Kamala Harris won 40%. Candidates in this district say key issues are border security, government spending, healthcare, economic growth and the role of the federal government.
