City of Mount Holly Council Member

The Election Hub has partnered with the Gaston Business Association to bring voters information about Gaston County candidates.

Mount Holly has six council members who each serve four-year terms. Three of those council members will be elected in this general election. Council members are elected citywide, and voters can vote for up to three candidates. The elections are nonpartisan, which means that party affiliations are not listed on the ballot.

Key issues that candidates cited were growth that exceeded infrastructure capacity (including first responders, schools, roads, water and sewer), public safety and the need to maintain the city’s charm. Mount Holly has a population of nearly 19,000 and a median income of $76,000.

Forty percent of Mount Holly’s registered voters are unaffiliated, 34% are Republican and 26% are Democrat.  The candidates below can be heard in this candidate forum
