Description:

Peacock was appointed to the interim city council position for District 6 after the resignation of Tariq Bokhari. Peacock told WCNC at the time of his appointment, "My biggest priority is going to be council's priorities, which obviously start with public safety, economic development, transportation, housing and neighborhood development and the environment.” Regarding the transit tax, he said, "The issue that we know that's before us is clearly going to be transit." He continued, "I look forward to working with my colleagues, working with state legislators, and clearly working with citizens who want to see Charlotte be congestion-free and obviously have a really highly mobile city." He has been outspoken about crime following the murder of Iryna Zarutska on a light rail train in August and suggested that the city should rename a light rail stop after her.

Peacock’s father was also a local politician. Peacock served on the North Carolina Arts Council and has been a trustee at The Fletcher School and the Blumenthal Performing Arts Center. He has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Georgia. Peacock is the father of two and is endorsed by MeckGOP and The Charlotte Observer.

What is one thing you would like to accomplish in the first six months if elected?

Establish a CLT/ Mecklenburg Public Safety Alliance to make public safety our top priority.


What is your position on the proposed transit tax and why? Will you vote in favor of it or against it in November?

In favor of transit tax. The “hope & pray” method of waiting for NCDOT & Raleigh to help our region will leave us woefully short of our massive needs for roads, transit expansion & planning for our enormous growth trajectory.

Endorsed by the The Charlotte Observer in every election I’ve run (CLT City Council 2007-2011, NC Congressional Primary D9 2012;  CLT Mayor 2013; 2015)


Tell us something unexpected about you that voters may be interested to know.

My dream was to be a left-handed pitcher in the major leagues. I tried out for two MLB teams.
