Why are you running for this role and why should voters pick you?  Please share any experience in an elected role that would be relevant to voters.

I chose to run for the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Board of Education because I believe the future of our community begins in our classrooms. Public schools are the foundation of opportunity, equity, and upward mobility, and when they succeed, our entire community thrives. My decision was not about seeking elected office for the sake of politics, but about where I could make the most direct impact.

As someone who has built a career around aligning education, workforce, and community opportunity, I know the school board is where decisions are made that affect every student’s path to graduation and beyond. This is where I can bring my skills, policy leadership, board management, workforce alignment, and a deep understanding of student and family needs, to ensure our schools are safe, strong, and preparing young people for college, career, or military service. Not just in words, but in true readiness.

I am running for the school board because I see this role as a bridge: between students and opportunity, teachers and resources, families and transparency, and schools and the broader community. I believe the school board is the most urgent and impactful work, supporting our educators and preparing the next generation.

Mecklenburg County voters should vote for me because I am a bridge-builder, problem solver, and advocate for excellence who puts students first. I am a proud product of this community and of public schools, and I know firsthand the power of education to change lives. I have led complex organizations, managed highly regulated public budgets, and brought business, government, and education leaders together to expand opportunity, the same skills I will bring to the Board of Education.

I am running because our students deserve safe, supportive schools, highly qualified teachers, and preparation for life after graduation, whether that means college, career, or military service. I will prioritize transparency, equity, and consistent communication so families and educators feel informed and included in decisions.

Voters should support me because I offer both proven leadership and a fresh perspective. I will fight for strong public schools that deliver excellence for every child in every zip code across the (sic)

What is one thing you would like to accomplish in the first six months if elected?

In the first six months, I plan to build strong collaborative relationships with the superintendent, fellow board members, parents, and the community by prioritizing trust and consistent communication; I will also focus on learning and fully understanding the current strategic plan, its goals and guardrails, and evaluating what is working and not working to ensure progress and accountability toward better outcomes for students.

Tell us about 2-3 professional accomplishments you have achieved in your work experience (not limited to public service) that give voters a sense of your leadership style or skills.

I successfully lead Charlotte Works, the largest single-county workforce board in North Carolina, aligning talent with employer needs and creating career pathways for thousands of residents.

I have managed and partnered with diverse boards and committees, building accountability systems and driving collaboration between business, government, education, and community organizations.

I have spearheaded and advanced in re-entry, youth career pathways, workforce and economic development, and mental health support, demonstrating my ability to build partnerships and deliver results that strengthen our community.

My leadership style is highly engaged and all-in, while also being strategic and collaborative. I lead with an influential, transformational approach that inspires others and drives meaningful results.
