Russell B. (Rusty) Knox, Jr.

He is an advocate of the arts. On the position of mayor, he says, “You realize very quickly that you have no power in your role as mayor,” he said. “But you do have influence, and that influence can open a door or crack a window.”

Knox is a Davidson native whose father was a former Davidson mayor. Two of his uncles were other mayors in N.C. He has a large family: five children and five grandchildren. He has a bachelor’s degree from Pfeiffer College and is a former college baseball player. He performs music monthly at Summit Coffee in Davidson. He is a registered Democrat and is endorsed by MeckDems and the LGBTQ Democrats of NC.
