Why are you running for this role and why should voters pick you?  Please share any experience in an elected role that would be relevant to voters.

I am running to make sure Matthews stays affordable, safe and inclusive. I want to keep the town moving forward, not backwards. This is my first time running for office.

Tell us about 2-3 professional accomplishments you have achieved in your work experience (not limited to public service) that give voters a sense of your leadership style or skills.

I have been a communications professional for a large school district and a large health care system in Mecklenburg County. Currently, I teach freshman high school English and in the past kindergarten. If that doesn't prepare someone for political office, I don't know what does!

What is one thing you would like to accomplish in the first six months if elected?

The consideration of an NDO (Non Discrimination Ordinance) for Matthews

What is your position on the proposed transit tax and why? Will you vote in favor of it or against it in November?

As a resident of Matthews, I am against the transit tax. After being considered for a light rail extension, the town was taken out of consideration earlier this year. Matthews will not receive much from the bill. In addition, the tax will heavily impact the residents of Matthews. Adding one cent to the already rising cost of goods will raise everyone's cost of living.

What endorsements from any notable NC organizations or individuals have you received?

Ken McCool - Matthews Town Commissioner
