Description:

The top three issues listed on his website are employing the local work force, enhancing parks and green space and fiscal responsibility. He says that under his leadership, Matthews has 54 additional acres of parks and new facilities including a new fire station and Discovery Place Kids. He has been a vocal opponent of the transit/transportation plan, which he said shortchanged Matthews by omitting light rail to the town as previously envisioned. But he hopes to reshape transportation, adjust transit funding, and preserve the community and small town feel of Matthews. He describes himself as “the moderate voice for all Matthews.”

Higdon is a community gardener and beekeeper. He has a bachelor’s degree from NC State and is registered as an unaffiliated voter.
